Snakes in the City PDF Print E-mail

Last night Team Vodka were doing their usual Brisbane City Loop walk in the evening. As we climbed down the southern stairs of Kangaroo Point, we were greeted by a python coiling itself around a mature possum! It blocked the exit and despite its mouth full (of the possy's head), Team Vodka squeezed themselves through the stair railings to avoid the reptile :-)

Looks like by the time Sparkle took these pics, the snake became shy and spat out its victim before retreating to the bushes.

Not the first time encounter with snakes at Kangaroo Point, Brisbane. I've walked over a young python at the base; setup a climb next a curious greenie (we watched each other); seen another with a pidgeon and Longie once tripped over a very big one making its way from a fig tree and over the rock wall on River Tce. First time we have come across a relatively medium sized one with an ambitious appeitite.
